About the Cover

Cover Figure

Legend. Treatment with an oxidized LDL epitope antibody (2D03; 15 doses in 5 weeks) induces regression of inflammation in existing atherosclerotic lesions (panel B compared with panel A) in LDL-/- mice. Single treatment with a systemically administered broad caspase inhibitor (ZVAD-fmk) in rabbits with atherosclerotic lesions reduces apoptosis in macrophages (compare inset panel D with panel C) without affecting the lesion morphology. Macrophages and their apoptosis are associated with plaque vulnerability. See pages 2310 and 2316.
