Legend. After bilateral iliac artery injury in atherosclerotic rabbits followed by bare-metal stent implantation without (A) or with (B) oral prednisone treatment or Taxus-coated stent (C) shows equivalent reduction in restenosis, and decreased fibrin deposition by prednisone compared to Taxus stent. In vitro scratch assay with cultured umbilical vein endothelial cells shows significantly less cell density increase under the paclitaxel treatment. See pages 179 and 183.
