ACCF/AHA 2009 Clinical Competence Statement on Cardiac Imaging With Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance: Update
The previous deadline of July 1, 2010, for the achievement of Level 2 or Level 3 competence in cardiovascular computed tomography and magnetic resonance on the basis of prior experience as outlined in the update to the ACCF/AHA Clinical Competence Statement on Cardiac Imaging With Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance (J Am Coll Cardiol 2005;46:383–402), published in the June 19, 2007, issue of the journal (J Am Coll Cardiol 2007;49:2378), has been rescinded.
The present training and competence recommendations (indicated in the 2005 competence statement as training completed before July 1, 2008) will remain in force indefinitely unless superseded by requirements set forth by the American College of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) within a pathway specific to advanced imaging training.
Therefore, in the article by Budoff MJ, Cohen MC, Garcia MJ, et al., "ACCF/AHA clinical competence statement on cardiac imaging with computed tomography and magnetic resonance: a report of the American College of Cardiology Foundation/American Heart Association/American College of Physicians Task Force on Clinical Competence and Training," which appeared in the July 19, 2005, issue of the journal (J Am Coll Cardiol 2005;46:383–402), the date "July 1, 2008" that appears on the following pages should be heretofore disregarded: - 1 Page 392, Table 5: "Training completed after July 1, 2008" and "Training completed before July 1, 2008."
- 2 Page 393: "Thus, these practitioners can qualify for completion of Level 2 or Level 3 training by having achieved the minimum criteria set forth below by July 1, 2008, as well as board certification and completion of an ACGME-approved radiology or nuclear medicine residency or cardiology fellowship, or at least two months of formal training in CCT."
- 3 Page 400: "These practitioners can qualify for completion of Level 2 or Level 3 training by having achieved the minimum criteria set forth below by July 1, 2008, as well as board certification and completion of an ACGME-approved radiology residency or cardiology fellowship, or at least six months' formal training in CMR."
- 4 Page 400, Table 8: "Training completed after July 1, 2008" and "Training completed before July 1, 2008."
