Eligible patients receiving other medications at hospital discharge by race. *ACE inhibitor and/or ARB use in patients with left ventricular systolic dysfunction (LVSD), excluding patients with contraindications to ACE inhibitor and/or ARB. {dagger}Beta-blocker use in patients with LVSD, excluding patients with contraindications to beta-blocker drugs. {ddagger}Statin use in patients with medical history of coronary artery disease, cerebral vascular accident/transient ischemic attack, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, or peripheral vascular disease. §Aldosterone antagonist, hydralazine, and nitrate use in patients with LVSD. ||Warfarin use in patients with chronic or paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. ACE = angiotensin-converting enzyme; ARB = angiotensin receptor blocker; HYDR/ISDN = hydralazine/isosorbide dinitrate.
