Figure 2 Plasma Levels of TBARS and Protein Carbonyls PRE and POST Cardiopulmonary Bypass and Reperfusion

Box plots of plasma levels of thiorbabituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) and protein carbonyl before (PRE) and after (POST) cardiopulmonary bypass and reperfusion in patients who remained in SR (n = 71) and in those who developed AF post-operatively (n = 53). Thiorbabituric acid-reactive substances and protein carbonyls increased significantly after reperfusion (*p < 0.05 vs. PRE for both); however, these markers did not differ between patients who developed AF versus those who remained in SR.
