Figure 2 Position of the Papillary Muscles

The anterior papillary muscle (APM) was located adjacent to the lateral (LAT) left ventricular (LV) segment in 18 patients (72%) and adjacent to the anterior (ANT) LV segment in 7 patients (28%); the posterior papillary muscle (PPM) was located adjacent to the inferior (INF) LV segment in 22 patients (88%) and adjacent to the posterior (POST) LV segment in 3 patients (12%).
