Figure 1 Cumulative Incidence of Diabetes According to Study Group

The incidence of diabetes differed significantly among the 3 groups (p < 0.001). Compared with placebo, the lifestyle intervention reduced the incidence of diabetes during follow-up by 58% (95% confidence interval [CI] 48% to 66%) and metformin reduced it by 31% (95% CI 17% to 43%).
