Figure 2 Ki-67–positive cells in infarcts and border zones five days after MI. Cells with Ki-67–positive nuclei were mainly observed in granulation tissue and the infarct–non-infarct border zone (A). At higher magnification, Ki-67–positive cells were shown to be mononuclear cells, specifically macrophages (B, thick arrow), spindle-shaped fibroblasts (B, thin arrow) and endothelial cells (C, thin arrow).
