Figure 1 Graph of perioperative mortality rates in patients with and without unstable angina preoperatively. The rate in patients with unstable angina was 50% versus 3% in those without unstable angina. Using one-way analysis of variance, unstable angina was the only variable of those studied that was associated with an increased risk of perioperative mortality (p = 0.005).
