All risk estimates were calculated taking into account a basic set of parameters, including age, gender, smoking (IDEAL) (A), and body mass index and alcohol consumption (U/week) (EPIC-Norfolk) (B). apo = apolipoprotein; HDL = high-density lipoprotein; HDL-C = high-density lipoprotein cholesterol; MCE = major coronary event; NMR = nuclear magnetic resonance.
