Figure 1 Change in PCr Concentrations During Follow-Up

(A) Control and (B) exercise group. The blue lines represent single patients. The green dotted line represents the mean of the respective patient group. Black bars located on the left as well as the right side of the single values show the SD at baseline (left) and at 8-month follow-up (right). PCr = phosphocreatine; 0 = baseline examination; 8 = 8-month follow-up.

Figure 2 Phosphorus-31 Spectra and Magnetic Resonance Images of a 64-Year-Old Male Patient of the Control Group

Almost completely unchanged morphologic (mass), functional (ejection fraction [EF]), and metabolic (phosphocreatine [PCr] and adenosine triphosphate [ATP] concentrations) parameters during follow-up. The black line with a fixed starting point at the peak of the PCr signal of the baseline examination demonstrates the unchanged PCr concentration during follow-up. LV = left ventricular.

Figure 3 Phosphorus-31 Spectra and Magnetic Resonance Images of a 35-Year-Old Male Patient of the Exercise Group

Improvement of morphologic (mass), functional (EF), and metabolic (PCr and ATP concentrations) parameters during follow-up. The black line with a fixed starting point at the peak of the PCr signal of the baseline examination demonstrates the tendency toward increasing PCr concentrations during follow-up. Abbreviations as in Figure 2.
