Flow chart showing the ablation strategy. After a mean follow-up period of 11 ± 2 months, 25 patients (55%) had recurrence. Out of the 22 patients who had only right pulmonary vein (PV) isolation by the conventional approach, 20 patients (90%) had recurrence of atrial fibrillation, whereas only 5 patients (22%) out of the 23 patients who had complete isolation with the conventional approach had recurrence (p < 0.001).
